AI Video Tools Overview

Understand how AI helps with scripts, captions, and video planning.

You'll finish with
30-second video script
~18 min 3 objectives

What you'll learn

  • Draft a short, structured video script with AI help.
  • Plan captions and on-screen text separately from the voiceover.
  • Decide whether video is the right format at all.
Lesson

When video is worth it

Video is powerful for demonstrations, tutorials, and stories. It is expensive when a short post or a photo would work as well. Before you script anything, ask: does this really need to move?

A 30-second script structure

Hook (3 seconds): why should someone stop scrolling. Point (15–20 seconds): the one useful idea. Payoff (5–10 seconds): what to remember or do next. If your idea does not fit that shape, cut it or split it into two videos.

Captions and on-screen text

Most short-form video is watched on mute. Plan captions from the start. On-screen text is not a transcript of the voice — it is 3–5 words that reinforce the point at the right moment.

Honesty rules for video

No fake before/after, no staged 'customer' quotes without consent and disclosure, no manipulated results. If you use an AI voice, disclose it. If you re-enact a real event, say it is a re-enactment.

Example — Mauritius small kitchen

A home cook plans a 30-second video: hook ('one-pan lunch'), point (three-step recipe with captions), payoff ('save and try Sunday'). She writes the caption text before recording so she knows what appears on screen.

Prompt template

30-second video script prompt

Draft a 30-second video script.
Topic: [one useful idea].
Audience: [who is watching].
Format: hook (3 sec), point (15–20 sec), payoff (5–10 sec).
Output 3 parts:
1. Voiceover lines.
2. On-screen text cues (3–5 words each).
3. B-roll or shot suggestions.
Rules: no fake results, no unverifiable claims, no exaggerated urgency.
Practice task

Pick one useful idea you know well. Use the prompt to draft a 30-second script. Read the voiceover aloud with a timer. If it runs long, cut, do not speed up. Save the script.

Success checklist
  • Your script fits the hook / point / payoff structure.
  • You planned captions separately from voice.
  • You have no unverifiable claims.
  • Your voiceover, read aloud, fits under 40 seconds.
Knowledge check

Self-check only. Nothing here is scored. Tap a question to reveal the answer.

Reflection

What is one idea you have avoided posting because you thought you needed a fancier video?

Safety note

If you show a real place, product, or process, keep it accurate. If you use AI voice, an AI narrator, or reenactment, disclose that in the caption.
