Create a practical AI playbook for a local business.

You'll finish with
One-page SME AI playbook
~20 min 3 objectives

What you'll learn

  • Assemble a practical AI playbook for a small local business.
  • Match AI to real, high-frequency tasks.
  • Communicate the playbook simply to non-technical teammates.
Lesson

Playbook, not project list

A playbook is a short, plain document that says: which tasks use AI, which AI tool, and which safety rules apply. It fits on one page. It is written for a coworker who does not know AI.

Start with the top 5 recurring tasks

Customer replies, product content, invoices, meeting notes, weekly updates. Pick the top 5 for your business. For each, pick one AI tool and one prompt template. That is 80% of the value with 20% of the complexity.

Include the safety rules

No customer identifiers in AI prompts. Always verify AI-generated facts. Always disclose AI-generated images. These three lines go on every playbook.

Make it teachable

If you cannot hand the playbook to a new hire and expect them to use it in 30 minutes, it is too complicated. Simple wins.

Example — Mauritius SME playbook

A tourism operator writes a one-pager: customer replies use ChatGPT with a placeholder prompt. Product blurbs use ChatGPT with the 3-format template. Weekly staff update uses a saved template. Rules: no client names in prompts. No AI-generated photos of the property.

Prompt template

One-page SME AI playbook prompt

Help me draft a one-page AI playbook.
Business: [1 sentence].
Country: [country].
Top 5 recurring tasks: [list].
For each task, output:
- Recommended AI tool.
- The prompt template we'll save.
- The safety rule that applies.
At the top, put three universal rules: no customer identifiers in prompts, verify AI facts before acting on them, disclose AI-generated images.
Practice task

Write a one-page AI playbook for your business, your workplace, or a fictional business you know well. Share it (or read it aloud) as if training a new hire.

Success checklist
  • It fits on one page.
  • It names the top 5 recurring tasks.
  • It includes the three universal safety rules.
  • A non-technical teammate could use it.
Knowledge check

Self-check only. Nothing here is scored. Tap a question to reveal the answer.

Reflection

If you handed this playbook to a new colleague today, what would confuse them first?

Safety note

The playbook does not replace legal or professional advice for regulated industries (health, finance, legal). Point users of the playbook to qualified experts for those areas.
